It is dry-tolerant and tolerates dry conditions well even in the germination phase. It is not demanding against the soil, it can be grown well on weak soils, it quickly protects against erosion. The soil is covered with its roots at a depth of 50-80 cm. It binds the nutrient content of the soil in its green and root mass, which can be used in the post-plant (e.g. it leaves a significant amount of organically bound phosphate behind). It can be used for almost any post-plant, as it has no close relatives among our crops, so it does not have a common pest or pathogen with them, therefore it reduces the amount of pests (e.g. nematodes). A special advantage of the plant is that it leaves a high-quality, very easy-to-machine soil after incorporation thanks to its chopped foliage and rich root system. When used as a cover plant, it has the advantage that when frozen it leaves behind a dark layer of mulch, under which the soil heats up faster. It blooms long, intensely and produces a large amount of nectar.
